Between the White Tree and the Graveyard
Following the death of a friend, a fifteen-year absence from exhibiting ended with "Between the White Tree and the Graveyard", a holly sapling standing resilient in the aftermath of a forest fire. In Irish mythology, holly is revered as a "noble of the wood" and symbol of protection. Here, it becomes a meditation on grief and quiet hope, on what endures after loss.
